Summary
Methylphenidate (Ritalin), it is a central nervous stimulant, and is mainly used in the treatment of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and narcolepsy. The drug is quickly eliminated and metabolized to Ritalin acid, but about 80% (about 60% are Ritalin acid), will be excreted in the urine during 24 hours. After 20 minutes of drug-intake, it can be absorbed in the stomach, At the time of 60-90min, blood concentration reachs its peak. And its half-life in blood is 5 to 6 hours. The long-term use ofADHD stimulants decrease abnormalities in brain structure and function found in subjects with ADHD.
Convenient Procedure
Allow the test, urine specimen, and/or controls to reach room temperature (15-30°C) prior to testing.
1. Bring the pouch to room temperature before opening it. Remove the test Cassette from the sealed pouch and use it within one hour.
2. Place the test Cassette on a clean and level surface. Hold the dropper vertically and transfer 3 full drops of urine (approx.120μl) to the specimen well(S) of the test cassette ,and then start the timer. Avoid trapping air bubbles in the specimen well(S).See the illustration.
3. Wait for the color line(s) to appear. The result should be read at 5 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 10 minutes.
