Canine Distemper Antigen Rapid Test Cassette

Advantages of Canine Rapid Test Kits

Quick Results

Rapid tests for canines provide fast results within minutes or hours, allowing for prompt diagnosis and treatment of dogs.

Early Detection

Rapid tests can detect diseases or conditions in their early stages, enabling early intervention and better treatment outcomes for canines.

Convenience

Rapid tests can often be performed in-clinic, reducing the need to send samples to external labs and providing convenient and timely results for veterinarians and dog owners.

Cost-effective

Rapid tests are often more affordable than traditional laboratory tests, making them more accessible for routine screenings or for monitoring chronic conditions in canines.

Reduced Stress

Rapid tests require minimal sample collection, which is less invasive and stressful for dogs. This leads to a more comfortable experience during the diagnostic process.

Convenient Procedure

Allow the test, specimen, buffer and/or controls to reach room temperature (15-30°C) prior to testing.

Collection and Preparation of Sample
•The test kit is for Canine use only. Do not use for other animals.
•The samples should be tested immediately after collection.
•If samples are not tested immediately, they should be stored at 2~8°C for 24 hours. For longer storage, freeze at -20°C or below. Frozen samples should be brought to room temperature(15~30°C) prior to use.

Procedure of the Test
•Bring the pouch to room temperature before opening it. Remove the test cassette from the foil pouch and use it as soon as possible. Best results will be obtained if the test is performed immediately after opening the foil pouch.
•Unscrew the specimen collection tube cap.
•Use the swab of the test paper to take samples of the dog.
•Put the swab with the sample into the sample tube containing dilute solution. Only the diluent in the kit can be used.Rotate and shake the sample tube with swab to make the sample and diluent mix well.
•Take out the swab, screw the cap and unscrew the tip.
•Invert the specimen collection tube and transfer 2 full drops of the extracted specimen (approximately 80μL) to the specimen well (S) of the test cassette, then start the timer.
•When the reaction proceeds, the dark red band can be observed to move in the result window in the middle of the reagent plate.(If you don't see the liquid flowing in the result window of the test paper, please press the position between "t" and "s" of the reagent plate by hand until you see the sample flowing up.)
•The test result should be read at 5-20 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 20 minutes.

FAQ

Q: What is the Canine Distemper Virus Antigen (CDV Ag) Test?

A: The CDV Ag Test is a diagnostic tool used to detect the presence of the Canine Distemper Virus antigen in canines. It helps in the early detection and diagnosis of Canine Distemper Virus infection.

Q: How is the CDV Ag Test performed?

A: The CDV Ag Test typically involves adding a sample, such as secretions, from the canine to the provided test cassette. The cassette contains specific reagents that react with the Canine Distemper Virus antigen if it is present. The results are usually observed within 10-15 minutes.

Q: What does a positive result on the CDV Ag Test indicate?

A: A positive result on the CDV Ag Test indicates the presence of the Canine Distemper Virus antigen in the canine's sample, suggesting an active infection with the virus.

Q: Can the CDV Ag Test be used for screening multiple canines?

A: Yes, the CDV Ag Test is suitable for screening multiple canines, especially in crowded places like shelters, breeding facilities, or kennels. It helps identify infected dogs quickly, preventing the spread of the virus to other animals.

Q: How accurate is the CDV Ag Test?

A: The CDV Ag Test has demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity in detecting the Canine Distemper Virus antigen. It has a low rate of false negatives and false positives, providing accurate results for effective treatment decisions.

Q: Can the CDV Ag Test be performed at home?

A: The CDV Ag Test is typically performed in veterinary clinics or at the point-of-care. While it is not designed for home use, it can be conducted by trained individuals following the provided instructions.

Q: Is the CDV Ag Test suitable for all canine breeds?

A: Yes, the CDV Ag Test is suitable for testing canines of all breeds. It is not specific to any particular breed and can detect the Canine Distemper Virus antigen in any infected canine.

Q: Is the CDV Ag Test a substitute for laboratory testing?

A: The CDV Ag Test is a rapid, point-of-care diagnostic tool, but it is not a substitute for laboratory testing. In some cases, further laboratory testing, such as PCR or viral isolation, may be necessary for confirmation or additional information.

Q: Is the CDV Ag Test a one-time test or should it be repeated?

A: The CDV Ag Test can be performed as a one-time test, but it is recommended to repeat the test after a few weeks if the initial result is negative but clinical signs or exposure to the virus are still present.

Q: How does the CDV Ag Test contribute to disease control and prevention?

A: The CDV Ag Test plays a crucial role in disease control and prevention by enabling early detection and prompt treatment of Canine Distemper Virus infection. It helps minimize the risk of transmission to other canines in the population, especially in high-risk environments.
