Tropicamide is an antimuscarinic drug that produces short acting mydriasis (dilation of the pupil) and cycloplegia when applied as eye drops. It's sold under the brand name Mydriacyl among others, is a medication used to dilate the pupil and help with examination of the eye[1] . According to the researchers of the European Commission-funded ReDNet Project, in Russia tropicamide is currently abused (injected intravenously) as an inexpensive recreational deliriant drug[2] . Misuse of tropicamide typically occurs through IV injection; its effects last from 30 min to 6 h, and it is usually mixed with heroin, methadone, and other opioid drugs to potentiate the " rush" when injected intravenously[2] . Medical effects of tropicamide misuse include slurred speech, persistent mydriasis, unconsciousness/unresponsiveness, hallucinations, kidney pain, dysphoria, "open eye dreams," hyperthermia, tremors, suicidal feelings, convulsions, psychomotor agitation, tachycardia and headache.

The TROP Rapid Test Strip is a rapid urine screening test that can be performed without the use of an instrument. The test utilizes a monoclonal antibody to selectively detect elevated levels of TROP in urine. The TROP Rapid Test Strip yields a positive result when TROP in

urine reaches 300ng/mL.

1. Allow the packet to acclimate to ambient conditions before breaking the seal. Extract the test strip and ensure its use is completed within a 60-minute window.

2. Position the test strip with the arrows facing the urine sample and submerge it vertically for a minimum duration of 10 to 15 seconds. Take care not to exceed the maximum line (MAX) indicated on the strip. Refer to the accompanying diagram for guidance.

3. Lay the test strip flat on a surface that does not absorb liquids, initiate the timer, and observe for the emergence of any colored lines. The results should be read precisely at the 5-minute mark and not beyond the 10-minute threshold.
