Summary
Serum Amyloid A (SAA) is an acute inflammatory response protein, which is encoded by multiple genes and belongs to the polymorphic protein family. It increases rapidly in the early stages of an inflammatory response or infection and decreases rapidly in the convalescent stages of inflammation. When infection occurs,SAA and C-reactive protein (CRP) and other inflammatory indicators are increased. In viral infection, SAA increases faster than other infection indicators, with higher specificity and sensitivity. According to the degree of SAA elevation and the combination of CRP, procalcitonin (PCT) and other indicators, it can provide important basis for the early diagnosis, disease risk and clinical prognosis evaluation of infectious diseases.
The Serum Amyloid A Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a simple test that utilizes a combination coated particles and capture reagent to detect Serum Amyloid A in whole blood, serum or plasma.

Convenient Procedure
Allow the test cassette, specimen, buffer, and/or controls to equilibrate to room temperature (15-30°C) prior to testing.
• Bring the pouch to room temperature before opening it. Remove the test cassette from the sealed pouch and use it as soon as possible. Best results will be obtained if the assay is performed within one hour.
• Place the test cassette on a clean and level surface. Hold the dropper vertically, draw the specimen up to the Fill Line(approximately 10 μl) and transfer specimen to the extraction buffer.
• Add 2 full drops of the extracted solution (approximately 80 μl) to the specimen well of the test cassette, then start the timer. Avoid trapping air bubbles in the specimen well. See the illustration below.
• Wait for the colored line(s) to appear. The result should be read at 10 minutes. Do not interpret results after 20 minutes.
