Human Adenovirus (HAdV) is a DNA virus that causes respiratory tract infections.

Adenovirus infections are more common in young children, owing to lack of humoral immunity. Epidemics of AdV infections may occur in healthy children or adults in closed or crowded settings (particularly military recruits). Although there have been no clinical trials performed to document efficacy, severe HAdV infections are most frequently treated with cidofovir, an antiviral agent licensed for the treatment of cytomegalovirus disease.

HAdV infections occur throughout the year but are more commonly found in late winter, spring, and early summer intemperate regions

The Adenovirus Antigen Rapid Test Cassette (Swab/Nasal Aspirate) qualitatively detects the presence of Adenovirus antigen in nasal swab or throat swab or nasal aspirate specimens, providing results within 10 minutes. The test uses antibodies specific for Adenovirus to selectively detect Adenovirus antigen in nasal swab, throat swab or nasal aspirate specimens.

1.Extract the test cassette from the sealed foil pouch and utilize it within sixty minutes. Optimal results are achieved when the test is conducted immediately after opening the pouch.

2.Position the Extraction Tube in the workstation. Invert the extraction reagent bottle vertically. Compress the bottle to allow the solution to flow into the extraction tube without making contact with the tube's edge. Add 8 drops of solution (approximately 0.3mL) to the Extraction Tube.

3.Insert the swab specimen into the Extraction Tube. Rotate the swab for about 10 seconds, applying pressure to the swab head against the tube's inner wall to release the antigen.

4.Withdraw the swab while pressing the swab head against the inside of the Extraction Tube to squeeze out as much liquid as possible. Dispose of the swab according to your biohazard waste protocols.

5.Attach the dropper tip to the top of the extraction tube. Place the test cassette on a clean, flat surface.

6.Dispense three drops of the solution (approximately 80μL) into the sample well and then start the timer. Interpret the result at 10 minutes. Avoid interpreting the result after 20 minutes.
