Summary
Glycated hemoglobin or glycosylated hemoglobin (hemoglobin A1c, HbA1c, A1C, or Hb1c; sometimes also HbA1c) is a form of hemoglobin that is measured primarily to identify the average plasma glucose concentration over prolonged periods of time.It is formed in a non-enzymatic glycation pathway by hemoglobin's exposure to plasma glucose. Normal levels of glucose produce a normal amount of glycated hemoglobin. As the average amount of plasma glucose increases, the fraction of glycated hemoglobin increases in a predictable way. This serves as a marker for average blood glucose levels over the previous months prior to the measurement.
For people with diabetes this is important as the higher the HbA1c, the greater the risk of developing diabetes-related complications.High blood glucose can damage all vessels in human body, causing complications in multiple organs, such as blindness due to diabetic retinopathy and lower limb amputation because of diabetic neuropathy.
Convenient Procedure

2. Remove the test cassette from the foil pouch and use it within one hour. Best results will be obtained if the test is performed immediately after opening the foil pouch.
3.Unscrew the tip and transfer 2 full drops of the diluted specimen (approximately 80 μL) to the specimen well (S) of the test cassette, then start the timer. Avoid trapping air bubbles in the specimen well (S).
4. Read results between 10-20 minutes after dispensing the specimen. Do not read results after 20 minutes.
